Who We Are
Who We Are
Baobab Hatua Community Development Initiative (BHACDI) is a Nigerian nonprofit, non-political and community-driven organization based in Minna, Niger State. BHACDI works with communities and partners to advance inclusive development, strengthen social cohesion, expand opportunities, preserve cultural heritage, and promote sustainable livelihoods and environmental resilience.
Rooted in the values of resilience, dignity, and collective progress, BHACDI works to strengthen systems that empower individuals and communities to thrive in a rapidly changing social, economic, and environmental landscape.
Our approach integrates community engagement, capacity building, and sustainable development strategies to address interconnected challenges across multiple sectors, including education, livelihoods, cultural preservation, digital inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
We prioritize youth empowerment, skills development, and participatory community action as key drivers of long-term transformation. Through collaborative partnerships and locally grounded interventions, BHACDI supports communities to build adaptive capacity, improve social outcomes, and foster inclusive growth.
Guided by a commitment to accountability and impact, BHACDI aligns its work with global development priorities, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while ensuring solutions remain locally relevant and culturally grounded.
How We Work
We begin by listening to communities and understanding local priorities.
We use research, consultation, and learning to design practical and relevant interventions.
We collaborate with communities, institutions, civil society, government, funders, and other partners.
We seek solutions that strengthen local capacity and generate lasting social, economic, cultural, and environmental benefits.
We uphold honesty, ethical conduct, respect, and professionalism in our actions, partnerships, and engagements.
We are committed to responsible stewardship of resources, measurable impact, and transparency to the communities, partners, and stakeholders we serve.
We believe sustainable development must be equitable and accessible, ensuring that diverse voices, perspectives, and communities are meaningfully represented and engaged.
We value partnerships and collective action, recognizing that lasting solutions emerge through cooperation among communities, institutions, and development actors.
We embrace learning, creativity, and adaptive approaches that respond effectively to evolving social, cultural, economic, and environmental challenges.
We promote long-term solutions that strengthen resilience, protect cultural and natural resources, and support lasting community well-being.
BHACDI combines community participation, local knowledge, research, capacity building and strategic partnerships to develop practical responses to social, economic, cultural and environmental challenges.
We engage communities in identifying priorities, shaping solutions and strengthening local ownership. Through collaboration with institutions, civil society organizations, government, development partners and other stakeholders, we seek to develop approaches that are locally relevant, evidence-informed and capable of generating lasting benefits.
BHACDI participates in professional networks, knowledge communities, accountability platforms and collaborative initiatives that strengthen learning, partnership and locally grounded development action.
